SBMicro2005
20th Symposium on Microelectronics Technology and Devices
Florianopolis, Brazil September 4-7, 2005
CHIP ON THE ISLAND
Call for Papers
The SBMicro symposium is a forum dedicated to fabrication and modeling of microsystems,
integrated circuits and devices, held annually in Brazil. The goal of the symposium is to bring
together researchers in the areas of processing, materials, characterization and modeling of
integrated circuits and MEMS. The SBMicro2005 location is Florianopolis, a wonderful island,
the capital of the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil. This international conference offers a unique
blend of microelectronics and serves as a major conference for the discussion of interdisciplinary
research around the world through a variety of formats, such as oral presentations, poster
sessions, exhibits, panel discussions, and tutorial sessions. The best papers presented at the
symposium will be invited to resubmit an extended version that will be considered for
publication at the JICS - Journal of Integrated Circuits and Systems and the Journal of the
Electrochemical Society.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Semiconductor/optoelectronic materials and devices
- Modeling, simulation, and characterization
- Displays and MEMS
- IC and MEMS processing
- Nanoelectronics
- Technology CAD Thermal effects Sensors and actuators
- Packaging
SBMicro2005 will be co-located with SBCCI2005 - 18th Symposium on
Integrated Circuits and Systems Design.
Information, Paper Submission and Deadlines:
Submission paper format for SBMicro 2005: up to 10-pages for contributed papers and up to 16
pages for invited papers, including illustrations. Simultaneous submissions or submissions of
previously published papers will not be considered for presentation at the event. The Program
Committee will only accept electronic submission in PDF format via the conference Website.
Author instructions for preparation of the manuscript will be available at
www.sbmicro.org.br/sbmicro.

Location:
It's easy to fall in love with Florianopolis, or Floripa as it is called by the Brazilians. The state
capital of Santa Catarina is one of the most popular tourist destinations in South America. This
city, which is on an island connected to the mainland, has a total of 42 beaches, most of which
are bathed by crystal blue waters from the Atlantic Ocean. This island is a delicious slice of
paradise with over 520 Km2 (200 sq mi) of green hills, lagoons and beaches. The weather in the
region is subtropical, with four well-defined seasons during the year. The symposium will take
place during the spring, when the temperature should be between 20 and 30oC (68 to 86F).
